Manotick Retirement Community Events- Cookie Hunt (Dec 9, 2023)
We always try to bring back to the community and love to participate in the cookie hunt organized by the Manotick Retirement Community.
Dentistry @ Manotick is very passionate about being active members of the Manotick village and we love to give back in any way that we can. In 2019 we started a “We Care Community Program” where we allocate a certain amount of money to go towards helping out the community, providing free dental treatment, and donating to various charities. Whether this is helping a certain individual in the community, helping a non-profit organization, supporting another local business or helping a certain population of people, we are there to lend a helping hand!
As an office, our goal for the 2019 “We Care Community Program” is $20,000! Now that 2019 has come and go, we have calculated our total for the “We Care Community Program” and we have a grand total of: $20,218. We reached our goal and are so happy and grateful we were able to help so many people along the way.
We can’t wait to see what 2020 will bring and how we can keep helping the community of Manotick.
This winter, grade 11 and 12 students of St. Mark High School were able to play in the 2019 Coal Bowl National Invitational Basketball Tournament in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia in early February, 2019. What a great experience! Our office donated $250 to go towards travel expenses. We also offered every player on the team a custom-made sports guard, fabricated at our office at no cost. (Average cost of custom-made sports guards made at our office $600)
Our office has partnered up with Youth of Manotick (YOMA) and sponsored the pizza party which took place on Friday April 12th at the Manotick Arena. There was a free pizza party and concert performed by the youth group “Youth X”. We donated a total of $250 to this event.

“We held our 2nd annual Free Dental Day on September 21, 2019. This is a special event that we host each year which we commit to provide free dental care to individuals in the community at a first-come-first-serve basis. Each person had a choice of a filling, a tooth extraction or a hygiene appointment (dental cleaning). We were able to serve 18 people and completed a total of $6,242 worth of free dentistry. We are so grateful to be able to help the community of Manotick and hope this can be a tradition for years to come.”
Paul Brooks, owner of Paul’s Pharmacy, here in Manotick, is stepping into the ring to Fight for the Cure to raise funds for better cancer care here in Ottawa. On October 19th, he will be facing his opponent at Casino Lac Leamy, after 8 months of training. All funds raised to this event will go towards Cancer Coaching, a unique service offered by the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation which helps cancer patients improve their wellbeing, by receiving practical and emotional support. Our office has donated $200 to go towards Paul’s event and help raise funds for better cancer care in Ottawa.
From November 3rd-9th our dental team at Dentistry @ Manotick did something completely out of our comfort zone! We ventured to Guatemala to take part in a volunteer medical mission trip. We worked with the organization International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ), which is a volunteer travel company founded in 2007. IVHQ has volunteer travel programs in over 40 different destinations and help thousands of volunteers each year give care to those in need. They create programs which people can volunteer in childcare, teaching, construction, community development, medical and so on. The medical programs are one of the most popular as a large percentage of the community does not have the same access to health care or resources as we have in North America and it is in very high demand. Our team volunteered in a small town called San Miguel Dueṅas located about 30 minutes outside of Antigua, Guatemala. This experience is something we will forever hold close to our hearts. We volunteered for 5 days and completed procedures such as fillings, extractions, cleanings, sealants, fluoride applications and brushing and flossing techniques/ education. We had very little resources to work compared to back home but the appreciation the people showed us and the smile on their faces when their treatment was completed is something we will always cherish. In total we completed more than $8,000 worth of free dentistry (cost of services performed based on Ontario Dental Association Fees). We would like to thank all of our patients, family, friends and dental reps/suppliers for their generous donations to our event to help make this trip possible. Check out some of our favourite pictures from the week!

On April 18, 2018, Manotick Public School and Dentistry @ Manotick took part in the Brush ‘A’ Mania 2018 Presentation. Brush ‘A’ Mania is a not-for-profit program designed to promote oral health and awareness among young children from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6. It was started in 2001 by the the Rotary Club of Toronto – Don Mills and has already reached over 500,000 students. Each year dental practices are encouraged to reach out to local schools to take part in the program. This year, Manotick Public School and Dentistry@Manotick have worked together to create a great presentation for children in grades 1-5 educating them on the importance of oral health.
April is National Oral Health month in Canada and the reason for doing this presentation is to educate children across Canada about the importance of good oral hygiene, nutrition and the link between oral health and overall health. The Brush ‘A’ Mania program is wonderful as it educates kids but also provides them with a chance to win awesome prizes by just brushing and flossing their teeth.
All children have a chance to win the grand prize of an XBOX One or one of fifty Android tablets. We encourage the parents/guardians to work with their child/children to complete this program so they have a chance to win. Every child must brush and/or floss their teeth 100 times in any 30-day period and get their parents or guardians to track this online at www.brushamania.ca from April 1st-May 31st. After 100 brushes or flosses are tracked the child will receive a certificate of completion and be entered in the contest to win.
"Dentistry @ Manotick would like to extend their thanks to Manotick Public School for allowing us to present to the children and thank the Ottawa Dental Society for donating a toothbrush and tube of toothpaste for each child that participated at the presentation".
Dentistry @ Manotick is a Platinum Sponsor for Manotick Public School. We have donated to the Public School to help with new equipment and resources the school requires. Being a Platinum Sponsor, we were able to take part in the school’s Spring Fair which was held on May 26, 2018.
Staff at Dentistry @ Manotick dressed up in a tooth fairy and tooth costume and kids lined up to take pictures. The Spring Fair also had air bounces, face painting, fire trucks, police cars, a silent auction and lots of carnival games.
We would like to thank Manotick Public School for inviting us to their Spring Fair!
