Dentists Who Listen First

Born and raised in a family of doctors, Dr. Grewal was inspired to follow in her family's footsteps and pursue dentistry as her profession. Her journey began after completing a year-long residency following graduation from dental school in India in 2006. She practised there for three years before coming to Canada in 2011, where she attended the State University of New York at Buffalo, School of Dental Medicine. She graduated in 2014 as a Cum Laude Honours graduate in Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) and moved to Ottawa, where she has practised ever since.

Dr. Grewal remains invested in dental education. She received her certificate for Oral Moderate Sedation from the Academy of General Dentistry in Toronto in 2015. By 2017 she was a certified Invisalign provider, and in 2018 she completed her implant and advanced immediate implant courses through the Toronto Institute of Dental Excellence (TIDE).

Her certifications include: Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) from the State University of New York, Buffalo (2014); Oral Moderate Sedation from the Academy of General Dentistry, Toronto (2015); Certified Invisalign Provider (2017); and the Basic Implant Mini Residency from TIDE (2017–2018), covering comprehensive treatment planning, implant surgical principles, cadaver surgical exercises, live patient surgical implant placements, implant prosthodontics and occlusion, and immediate anterior and posterior implant placement through 2019.

Volunteering is one of Dr. Grewal's greatest passions. She has volunteered with Dentistry from the Heart, a non-profit organization that provides free dental care to those in need, and is making "Free Dental Day" in Manotick an annual event. She is also involved with Remote Area Medical (RAM), a non-profit provider of mobile medical clinics. Dr. Grewal travelled to Tennessee in 2013, and to Antigua, Guatemala in November 2019, where she provided free dental services to children and families in need.

While not at work, Dr. Grewal loves to be with her family. Her husband is a lawyer, and they are kept even busier by their son. You can also find her reading, oil painting and enjoying the outdoors.

Dr. Rebecca Hicks started her higher education journey at McMaster University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2019 with an Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences degree. Growing up, Dr. Hicks always aspired to live in Australia.

She secured this opportunity when she was accepted into the Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) program at the University of Melbourne, from which she graduated in 2024.

Although she loves Australia, Dr. Hicks decided to move back to Canada to practise dentistry as she wanted to be closer to her family. While not at the office, Dr. Hicks loves spending time outdoors and can often be found on a hiking trail.

Dr. Julie Maniate is a pediatric dentist now practising in Ottawa (Manotick). She earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Manitoba in 2003 and completed a General Practice Residency at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario in 2007.

Previously based in Winnipeg, Dr. Maniate served as Clinical Director of the Undergraduate Pediatric Dentistry program at the University of Manitoba and worked in private practice. She later pursued advanced specialty training in Pediatric Dentistry at Yale–New Haven Hospital in Connecticut.

She is a member of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, and a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. In addition to providing care to her patients, Dr. Maniate enjoys teaching, playing the piano, painting and travelling.
